Ranking
Rank came out today...and I'm officially unranked. Apparently the transfers won't be ranked until we've completed a year here. Guess that means I have another semester to bring up my GPA enough to make top third. Definitely possible, but it'll require me to step it up a notch. Last semester was spent trying to get settled in here, traveling for OCI, making new friends, etc. I'm not making excuses for my grades - I really think I mostly got what I deserved. However, I am identifying the circumstances which led to my studying being much less productive than last year. So far my work habit this semester has been quite a bit better, so I just have to keep that up. Kind of nice to have some motivation and a solid goal ahead again.
So far I'm enjoying this semster far more than last. I've made some new friends here (who aren't transfers) and gotten more involved. I also have a regular tennis game on Monday nights and softball on Wednesday nights. Exercising definitely puts me in a better mood and makes me more productive, and I always regretted not making time for it last semester. I also have the advantage of taking classes I actually want to take this semester, as opposed to taking the classes that had openings like last semester. I'm taking Business Organizations and Corporations, both of which I'm very excited about. I think I'll be doing mostly corporate work this summer, so I thought it would be nice to have some background knowledge going into the firm. I'm really trying to go the extra mile by reading some outside material, so hopefully it'll pay off.
And my short term motivation for the next six weeks: Tahoe! I knew going to school in California for a year would pay off. Turns out one of my 1L friends has a father who owns a place at Tahoe, so we're headed there to ski for spring break. Can't wait! Definitely something nice to daydream about for the next six weeks.
Hope everyone else has gotten off to a good start this semester!
P.S. If you emailed me last week, I promise I'll get back this week!
